Jaisalmer is a city located in the northwestern state of Rajasthan in India. It is known for its stunning architecture, desert landscapes, and rich history. The Jaisalmer Fort, or Sonar Quila, is among the most noteworthy attractions in Jaisalmer. It was built in the 12th century and served as a strategic trading post on the Silk Road. The fort is made of yellow sandstone and is often referred to as the 'Golden Fort' due to its honey-colored appearance.
