Edenvale is a city located in Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality in the Gauteng province of South Africa. The suburb was established in 1903 and is situated about 12.7 kilometers from the city of Johannesburg. Its name "Edenvale" means "valley of paradise", a reference to its beautiful scenery and warm climate. One of the notable attractions in Edenvale is the Poshmark Mall, which houses various shops, restaurants and cinemas. For art lovers, the Johannesburg Art Gallery is a must-go, as it features African and European artworks from the 17th century up to the present. Another tourist spot in the city is the Apartheid Museum, which showcases the history of apartheid in South Africa through its collections and exhibits. Edenvale is also known for its rich aviation history. The city was the site of the first flying school in South Africa, established in 1913 by the famous South African aviator, Colonel John Weston. The airport in Edenvale was also used as a military airfield during the Second World War.
