Snowshoe is a small ski resort town nestled in the Allegheny Mountains of Pocahontas County, West Virginia, United States. The town is famous for its outdoor recreational activities, stunning natural beauty, and rich cultural heritage. The history of Snowshoe dates back to the late 1800s when the area was primarily used for lumber production. The first ski resort in Snowshoe was established in 1974 and has since expanded into a premier vacation destination. The town's name is derived from the Appalachian-style snowshoes that were once used by locals to traverse the deep snow. Today, Snowshoe boasts a world-class ski resort that offers a range of winter activities, including skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, and tubing. The resort features 60 slopes and trails, four terrain parks, and a tubing hill. The Snowshoe Mountain resort spans over 11,000 acres and is one of the largest ski resorts in the Mid-Atlantic region.
